EXPERIMENTAL FURNACE AT ONEKAKA.
WELLINGTON, March 31. The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. A.» H. Nordnieye'r) st^ted tonight that an electrical furnace was being assembled at Onekaka for the purpose of testing ironsand and its suitability for the manufacture of • iron and steel. As some of these sands contained a fairly large quantity of. titanium the proportion of this mineral. in 'the sands was likely to be important inview of the fact that titanium was becoming increasingly used ip the manqfacture of paints. . .
