Duteh shipping lines which openfid a 1 freight war against British and Indiai j shipping comganies on the ehstefn rOUte announced that during the uext seven weeks they were sending live ships in the 7000 and 8000 tons class to pick up for the first time cargoes from Brit.ish ports. - Tlie Dutch shipping lines adinitted i tliat they were aecepting freight rates for these cargoes at Oi) per efent. below ; the rates which the International Shipping Conference — from which they had I withdrawn — had lixed. The Ihterna ' tional shipping lines consist of the | Peninsular and Orient Line, British 1 India Steamship Companv, Elierman Lines, Brocklebanks, City Line, HarriI son Line, Clan Line, Anchor Line, Hall's Line and two Indian companies, the India Steamship Companv and Si-indiu Steam Navigation Companv. i The London agent for the invading ! Dutch lines stated that the lirst Dutch ship to arrive for undercut freightS would reach Glasgow on April 9 and proceed to Liverpool. The London agent explained that Dutch lines were coining to British ports For cargoes because trade at their previous ports of Ilamburg, Brernen, Rottei'dam and Ant1 vverp was a shadow of what it was pre' war. The secretarv of tlie International Shipping Conference said: "The war is being carried into our camp. We shall light back. "
