Death Removes Another Sportsman

A keen enthusiast for sport was lost this week when Mr. Ngarori ("Romeo") Kingi died at Levin. His interest started as a lad when he took -up road cycling with, among others, the late Mr. Bave Musgrove. He won several races and his decision to retire at a time when he was showing' considerable promise caused disappointment to his cycling friends. The late Mr. Kingi was always an ardent follower of rugby football. He played for several seasons in the Wanderers junior team and in later years took a prominent part in the inauguration of the Punahau Club. With Mr. Hone iVlcMiilan, the late Mr. Kingi was instrumental in launching the Kotahitanga Young Maori Club, which seeks to promote the welfare of the Mac-ris by teaching them Maori customs and promoting inter-tribal sport. Mr. Kingi's passing will be a big loss to Maori sporting circles.
