Two Brothers Save Steamer From Sinking
Received Thursday, 9.10 a-m. LONDON, March 30. Two young brothers, William Thornilly, an able seaman in the Royal Navy and Garven Thornilly, a university student, holidaying at Perranuthnoe, near Penzanoe, Cornwall, early today saved the Dutch steamer Zeeland from sink> ing. The Zeeland was bound from Plymouth to Newlyn when she missed her way in a fog, struck a rock and began to take water badly. Her captain sounded an SOS on the siren. The brothers heard it, rushed out of bed, ran down to the beach, launched a dinghy and I rowed out until they , made contact I with the Zeeland. They climbed on board and told the captain his position. The ship then made for Penzanee, where she arrived in harbour just as the rising waters stopped her' engfnes. On board were the captain's wife and his three -year-old daughter and year-old baby.
