Old Girls' Club Prepares For Basketball
The Horowhenua College Old Girls' Basketball Club, held its annual meeting oh Tuesday. There was a good attendance, with a few new memJbers, auguring well for the coming season. In tne absence of the president, Mrs. A. Staples, the chair was occupied by one of the vice-presidents, Miss H. M. Chap-man-Cohen. The following officers were elected: — Patron ess: Mrs. H. B. Burdekin; president: Mrs. K. DeCastro; ■ vice-presidents: Mesdames H. G. Mackay and G. Wilkinson, Miss Chapman-Cohen and Messrs. N. A. Byrne and A. Haley; club captain: Miss M. Karauti; hon. secretary: Miss B. Norton; rmn. autucor: Mr. G. H. Sorenson; executive committee: Mrs. K. DeCastro and Misses M. Karauti, B. Norton, J. Roberts; B. Hooker and T. Bicd. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. G. H. Sorenson, the ciub's audi■tor, for his he'p and co-operation. The chairwoman also compiimented the secretary. and club captain on the way in wnich they had administered the aft'airs of the club, and the president, in her report, ma'de reference to the number of rep. players chosen from the club, in particular Laura Nicholson, wno was chosen to play against the Australian test team at Rotorua. ' Although the only time the club travelled was to the King's Birthday tc-urnament at Palmerston North, it was enjoyed by all, and greater things are looked forward to this season. It was unanimously decided that the club make a donation of £5 towards the Horowhenua College Old Pupils' Association Memorial Fund.
