20,000 Cheques For British Doctors
Received Tuesday, 7.45 p.m. LONDON, Marcfi'29. Twenty thousaud cbeques will be sent on March 31 to doctors in the Nationai Health Service in paymenr for service in the quarter ending oh that date. The Daily Telegrapli says most of them wiil be larger than those distributed in the first' and second quarters, for capitation fees are higher. It is estimated that since July 5 when the service started, £32,500,000 will have been paid to general practi tioners by March 31. Taking the number of doctors at 18,165 this gives an average of £1789, or for the full year £2385. The doctors' case for higher pay will he considered at a special representative meeting of the British Medical Association in London today.
