Fat Lambs Keenly Sought At Levin Sale

1 At the Levin sale yesterday good yardings in all sections came forward. In the fat sheep section good quality wethers and ewes were penned throughout. Rates for wethers showed a slight improvement and ewes a slight depreciation on last week's rulings. A large yarding of lambs met with keen competition, the quality and values being in advance of recent saies. , The pig yards were full to capacity and maintained a steady sale, •In the fat eattre section vealers were in over supply, causing rates l to drop slightly. A pen of heavy ' ox beef sold above schedule. Good quality heifers and cows met with |a keener demand and showed an improvement on last week's prices. The following is a range of the prices realised: — Sheep: Prime heavy ewes, 30s 4d to 32s lOd; lighter do., 24s lOd to 27s lOd; prime heavy wethers, 47s 4d to 47s lOd; prime wethers, 44s 7d to 46s 7d; medium do., 42s lOd to 43s lOd; prime shorn lambs, 35s 4d to 35s 7d; medium do., 22s lOd to 33s 7d; prime woolly lanibs, 36s 4d to 38s ld; medium do., 34s Id to 35s ld. Pigs: Prime porkers, £5 2s to £5 10s; medium do., £4 17s to £5; li'ghte'r do., £3 10s 'to £4 ls; prime baconers, £5 10s to £5 18s; medium do., £5 4s to £5 7s; heavy choppers, £5 10s to £6; light do., £3 10s to £4 4s. - o Store pigs: Weaners, 17s 6d to 20s; slips, 25s to 32s; stores, £2 to £2 8s. Dairy cattle : Cows close to profit, £19 10s to £21; May calving cows, £11 10s to £12 10s; store cows, £4 12a 6d to £6 5s.
