Hospital Statistics
The daily average nurnber of ocfcupied beds has risen 9-gain to fhe raore usual average- figure of 322.9, stated Mr. J. D. Wiilis, aeting medical isup^rintendent, in his report to the board yesterday. The total number of oeeupied beds in the maternity homes has remained substantially «unehanged. No fresh cases of poliomyelitis -were admitted during February. The Kostrata .Maternity Home was taken over by the board on Mareli 8. The home had 20 to 24 beds but has "now beeii • iregistered as a 16bed hospital. All the staff and equipment was taken over and Sister Baker, of -the • board 's District Maternity Home, is in charge. Mr. Willis quoted the following hospital statistics for February: Patients admitted 407, discljarged 344, died 13, remaining 344, daily average nujnber of o;ccupied beds 322.93. Infectious diseases: Scarlet fever, admitted 3,»dischargedv3; erysipelas, admitted 1, discharged 1-; hydatid cysts, admitted 2, discharged 2. Maternity Homes. Patients admitted: Palmerston North 13; Foxton 3; Otaki 5;- Feilding 8. Births: Palmerston North 55; Foxton 6; Otaki 14; Feilding 14. Remaining: Palmerston North, mothers 13, babes 12; Foxton, mothers 3, babes 3; Otaki, mothers 6, babes 6; Feilding, mothers 7, babes 7. Daily averag^of oeeupied beds: Palmerston North 26.39; Foxton. 2.32; Otaki 6.32; Feilding 5.96.
