Valarie Watts Senior Girl Champion Boys' Title To A. Lee
The annual athletic sports of the Horowhenua College commenced on March 17, but were uncompleted on account of the wet weather which set in shortly after the programme' began'. Tney were concluded when the opportunity offered. The entries this year constituted a record, it being estimated that' more than 1500 were received for the complete programme. Competi-j tion was very keen and the standard of achievement hign. An innovation was the introduction of an intermediate grade for both boys, and girls. This enabled the middie; school to compete with a reason-' ab!e chance of success and prob-| ably accounted for tne large entries. * The senior girls' championship, award this year went to Valarie' Watts, the intermediate champion-' ship to Joan Bagrie and the junior championsnip to Kyra King.i The boys' championships were wcn as follows: — Senior all round champion: A.
