AUCKLAND, March 29,. The moderate e^ments in the carp.entry trade wi1! apply immediately for the registration of a new union of carpenters, joiners and joiners' machini'sts in thp Auckland district. This action, which follows the deregistration of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Carpenters* Union on Friday Iwas approved by a majority of about 250 to four at a meeting this morning. - l Simultaneously, another meeting of carpenters approved by about 600 votes a resolution reaffirming the previous de.cision nqt to re.turn to work until "their jus.t demands" were met. The moderates appointed an interim exeeutive of eleven, with Mr. R. J. Peter as chairman an'd Mr. C. T. -HUI seeretary. • The resolution passed at the other meeting added that, consider ing the action taken by the emp.oyers in lifting the lockout, the carpenters were "prepared to man, thro.ugh the union offices, all jobs and factories wnere employers were prepared to concede- not less than the original demands. of the 'deregistered1 union. The resolution added: "We condiernn the partisan action , of the Government in dei'egisferlnS our .ection of the union."
