Ratepayers' Association To Contest By-election
' The- Levin Ratepayers' Association will appoint official candidatep to contest any municial by-election brought about by the recent resignations of two councillors. A decision to this effect was made at the monthly meeting of the association last night, when it was, , decided that a special meeting would be held in a fortnight's time to belect the candidates. A member of the association, Mr. W. Seddon, when moving that candidates be selected, said that it was the duty of the association to see that there was _ adequate representation on the cbuncih In a statement issued after the meeting, the association expressed
regret that two councillors had resigned and added: "This association assures ratepayers that the vacancies will be filled and, to avoid putting the borough to the expense of an election, no more than the required number of nominations to fill the vacancies will be arranged. The nominations will be carefuPy selected from members ppssessing civic pride and accepted rasponsibility to administer most impartiaily for the general good of aii citizens, and with vision for the future."
