Market Produce In Strong Demand
Messrs. Townsend and Paul, Ltd., fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that during the week there has been a consistently strong demand for tomatoes, most lines realising excellent returns. Peaches and plums, and in fact all stone fruits, have been in keen enquiry, choice lines realising attractive values. There has been« a marked increase in both the quality and demand for passion fruit. Albany grapes have been arriving in increased quantities, values remaining firm. . In the vegetable section a strong demand has been-ruling for cauliflower, kumeras, lettuce, peas and parsnips, all other lines belng in fair inquiry. Large consignments of flowers have been offere'd and choice blooms. are realising very high prices. Heavy yardings of poultry have been offered'and prime birds are realising good returns.
