Methodist Guild Hosts At Social Afternoon
Between 30 and 40 senior members and! friends of St. John's Methodist Church were entertained recenuiy by the Methodist Ladies' Guild a-t its quarterly social afternoon. Each guest, on entering the room, was presented with flowers. a spray for the ladies and a buttonhole for the meii. Rev. H. S. Hings presided and kept the atmosphere toright with the telling of humorous st'ories. Mrs. Hinde entertained with two elocutionary items, "If I Had My Will" iandi "A Visit to the Dentist"; and Mrs. J: Ordish rendered two solos, "Thanks be to God" and "Drink to Me- Only With Thine Eyes:" Ohe of the elderly members, Mrs. Eibye, recited "William Tell." These items Were greatly appreciated! by all- present. Afternoon tea was served by guild members and! opportunity was taken of rerieWing acquaintances. The remainder of the afternoon was spent in the singing of favourite hymns, and a pleasant and happy afternoon concluded with the singing of the Doxology and Benediction.
