Warehouses And Transports Ablaze At Oakland
Received "Wednesday, 12.20 a.m. OAKLANE fOalifornia), March 15. A large fire was sweeping the dock area of the Army hase at Oakland early today. Two army transports were seen blazing and, a series of explosion? sent the flames 'hundreds of feet into the air. The walls of two doek warehouses are reported to have collapsed. Oue warehouse filled with Army goods destined for overseas points was reported to be ablaze. -The base was one of the major shipping centres for the Pacific theatre during the war and. is the terminus of all Army transports from the Pacific areas.
