Eeceived Tuesday, 10.30 p.m. SIXGAPORE, March 15. ; 'Exhausted bandit gangs in North Mai ava harried by the Malayar. security forces last week contacted the police in Routhern Riarn in an eli'ort to negotiate a surrender and receive sanctuarv in Riam, aecording to usually reliable sources in Singapore. The British and Riamese authorities are understood to be considering the situa tion. The Malayan forces on Mareh. 7; launched their second big sweep against J the bandits north of Ivedah within a! few weeks. E.A.F. planes dropped leaflets to the bandits on Mareh 9 near: the Malava-Siam border telling them; they were surrounded and urging them ' to surrendel'. Gurkhas, Hussars and the police were last reported to "be closing in on the bandits.
