Junior National Party Holds Annual Meeting
The branch was entering its tourtn year and this period jhad seen a strengthehmg Of all its ictivities and a growing enthusiasm among the members, said the chaifman of the Levin Branch of the .J.uhior National Party, Mr. R. Denton, at the annual meeting last aignt. He was summarising the year's work &hd he said that the year jius.t .cohciuded was proof oi • an active branch, and reflected great credit on the members. The membership had risen .during the year • by over 50 per cent., he Continued. This could be greatly increased by an effort on the part of the mem- \ bers. The chairman then gave .details of the various aetivities ih which members had taken. part during the year, remarking that the most successful had been the second annual batl. The branch's thanks secretary, Mr. R. G. Romans, whose assistance and advice during the year had been invaluable. In conclusion, Mr. Denton urged all members to - get behind the incoming , committee and branch officials in this the election year. He express- - ed his thanks to the outgoing committee for its hara work during the year. .. . Among those present . at the meeting was the electorate organiser, Mr. W. Day, who discussed at s.ome length the organisation and plans for the coming election. The election of officers was then held and resulted as- follows: — ' . Chairman: Mr. R. Denton; viceehairman: Mr. W. Lamberg; secretary-treasurer : Miss M. Walker; committee :, Misses P. Hills, P. Wills, N. Thevenard, A. Robinson, U. Prouse and J. Woodward and Messrs. J. Rankiri, A. Walker, I. Doyle, F. Cateley., A. Abraham and B. Lind; delegates to electorate annual meeting: Miss M. Walker and Messrs. R. Denton and W. Lamberg; delegates to chairmensecreta'ries' conference: Miss P. Wills and Mr. W. Lamberg. The annual ball was discussed and it was decided to hold this function late in June or early in July. In this regard, the .secretary reported that a letter had been written to the Leader of the Opp.osition, Mr. S. G. Holland, inviting him to attend. A reply was received stating that he woiild make . every effort to be present. The b.all connnittee will to.e drawn from the general committee and other members of both the junior and senior branches. The first club night will be he'ld o'n Thursday, April 14, and will take the form of a barn dance in the Oddfellows' Hall. • .
