WELLIN'GTON," March 14. Betailers were coneerned at the prospect of continuing and sevlre shortages of nylon and lisle stockings for New Zealand women, said' Mr. G. L. Riley, seeretary of the New Zealand JRetailers ' Federation, today. He said import licences had so far been witHlield and retailers were alartned about •futnre' .supplies. ' ' Mr. Riley added that on December 7 last advice was received from' tihe'Cbn fcroller of Customs that applications w'ould be conriidersd from reguJhr importers for licences to import women's full -length lisle Stockings. Applications were made b3r retailers.'" for licences, tog.ethei' with ' evidenCe of availability, but so far importers gen erall}'- had not received the necessary licenees for these good's. The N«w Zealand Retailers' Federation viewed this matter with concern as it was obvfous that lisle stockings were wanted for winter and unless "lie.incos were granted within the next 10 days, the inajority of -importers would not be able tc; land lisle stockings until ' well af'ter winter. ■ ' Members of the federation were also extremely coneerned at . the •, pfesent siipply situation fOr pure* silk and nylon hose.
