ROTORUA, March 14. Waikato won by an innings and 49 runs in the Hawke Cup cricket elimination matcli against Bay ot Flenty at Rotorua today. Strong batting wa-? largely responsible for such a d'ecisive win, together with the faet that the Bay team was weakened by the absence of three of its strongest representativc batsmen. During the three days of the mateh the state of the wicket for the most part favoured the batsmen but the pitch was much more lively this morning and the spin bowlers, getting more assistanee from the wicket, had ttie upper hand from the outset. X. Beattie, of Opotiki, with 52, was the principa' seorer for Bay in the second innings and M. le Pine, of Whakatane, 68, and T.
