Moir, Melanesian 'Mission priest and one time vicar of Otaki,, has made his home in retiremerit at Plimmerton. Rev. O. W. Williams has been' appointed vicar of Paraparaumu. A gifted teacher and a distinguished soldier, Mr. Williams was assistanr, chaplain at Christ's College for seven years, and chaplain for 17 years until 1947. Mr. Bruce Fogden, of Tasman Road, was the victim of an untortunate mishap on ..Satur'day. He was riding at the Poroutawhao Sports when his mount f ell . and rolled on him. After receiving medical attention, he was taken ta> his home and is likely to be confined to bed for the remainder of the week. Good Marching Performance Separated by two and a half points from the winning team, the local marchipg team, Bandoliers, returned. their best performance to date when they ran third in the open championships at Bulls on Saturday. Caledonians (Levin) continued its winning run to secure first place with 290£ points, The Fashion (289) being second and Bandoliers (288) third. Further Racecourse Improvements The track at the mile and a quarter barrier at the Otaki racecourse lias been widened by more than a cnain and this will result in an enlarged safety number at this barrier. It will be recalled that at the last meeting of the ciub the big race of the day ha'd to be run in divisions. With its usual promptitude, tne club has taken -steps to prevent a recurrence.
