British Troops Run Into Terrorist Ambush

Received Sunday, 7 p.m. SINGAPORE, March 13. Terrorists killed live Grenadier Guardsmen in ambush today near Kajang, 15 _ miles south of Kuala Lumpur. They also seriously wounded three other guardsmen. The troops were on the traii of a desperate gang whicli Jast week shot' dead an oiiicer of the Itoyal Army Service Corps in the same vieinity. R.A.P. planes yesterday attacked the gang's, liideout and guardsmen today were maintaining pressure when they ran into the ambush. About 20 guardsmen in trucks came on a roadblock on a, rough road through a rubber estate. The terrorists opened fire witli mortars, maehine-guns, and rolled liand grenades from the top of adjoining hills. The guardsmen scrambled out of theirvehicles, lixed bayonets and charged. Five of them were killed. Kajang is a notorious Chinese Communist area where 600 Chinese squat-, ters were recently roundd up and trepatriated to China.
