Plastic Armour For Ships
Received Thursday, ? p.m. LONDOIJ, Marcii 10. A wartime invention of plastic armour for ships, earned an aw'ard oi £9500 for Mr. R. Edward Terrell, a former captain in tbe JEtoyal Navy Voluntary Reserve. The armour consisted of slahspf bituminous material impregnated with chips and hard stone, backed hy thin steel plate costing £12 10s a ton compared with £150 for armour pldting. : At the .end . of the war 3000 nierchant and 1000 naval vessels, incl'uding American, had been fltted.4 '
