CHRISTCHURCH, Mareh 10. A Railways Department employe.e was killed instantly at Darfield this morning when he fell in the path of a
goods train. He was: W1LLTAM PETER MILLER, ganger. aged about 63 years, of AylesburyMr. Miller, who was visiting Darfield for the day, was* tallcing to aii acquaintance near the railway tracks aboxxt 10.45 a.m. Remarking that he would have to meefc the niixed goods train for Whitecliffs which was then pulling into the station, lie started to walk across the tracks. He apparently j tripped just. before Teaching the train") aird was carried some distaxxee along' the line by the engine before falling under the wheels of the following car- , riages.
