School Swimming Sports

T * Last Wednesday afternoon the Shannon School held its annual swimming sports in the school baths under ideal weather conditiQns. The competition for points beuveen Tui and Kiwi Houses promoted a high standard of enfchusiasm, and spirited rivalry proyided a lively afternoon's . enter--tainment for the parents and other visitors, of whom many were present. Titi House won the day by 126 points to 105. i In the course of thanking the ■parents for attending in such large numbers, Mr. F. O. Burtt, the headmaster of the. school, introduced Mr. G. Stubbs, the senior inspector of primary schols for the Wellington Education Board, his 'colleague, Mr. Bell, and Mr. Gubb, swimming instructor, all of whom were visiting the school that day. This sports fixture f ollowed ' an intensive month's "learn to swim" campaign, and a very pleasing feature of the afternoon was the high proportion of the standard classes who took part in the events.
