Building Work In Levin Well Maintained
Activity in the building trade within the borough had been wel1 maintained during February, reported the building inspector, Mr W t. Tilyard, at last night's meeting of the Levin Borough Counci1. During the month work on six new dwe'lings w?s commenced and five were completed, leaving the num•ber at present under construction t 90. ^xclusive of State houses. In'one Sta^e housing block three single units would be completed within the next- few days and four s'ngle units and one double unit were ready for the painter. During iie month permits had been issued for the construction of four private dwellings to the t'-ta' value of £7525. A permit had a^o ■ bheh' ! ' granted ' 'f of 1 • the erection of one other building valued at £295. From April 1, 1948, until February 28, 1949, permits had been issued for the erection of 94 private dwe'lings to the value of £161,241* as against 70 of a value of £136,241 for the same period the previous year. For. other buildings. 10 permits had been issued to a valuejjQf.: £3662, as compared with six to to the value of £7795 the previous year. .
