CHILD'S FATAL FALL OVER LIMSTONE BLUFF
BLENHEIM, March 6. PRANCES ROBERT RUTLAND, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Rutland, of Seddon, was killed when he t'ell 15(> feet down a precipitous face of a limestone bluff bordering the Awatere River, on Friday evening. The chiid, aged one year and nine months, was missed in the early evening and wan found by a search party about 10.15 p.m., stranded on a sliingle bank about 100 yards down stream from the bluif. It is thought that the child fell to its death when it w-andered along tlie fencc line where erosion has caused the limestone formation to crumble.
