WELLINGTON, March 3. "I have received aumerous requests from paients for exemption from eurolment at school of children under 15 years of age," said the Minister of Education, Mr. McCombs, today. "I should like to emphasise that othei than those children unable to attend school by reason of a pcrmanent in firmity, the only children who,. in tlie opinion of the senior inspector ' of schools for the distriet, are unable to derive appreciable beneiit frofn Ihe education faeilities available, may be considered for exemption from enrolment." It follows from these requirements, added Mr. McCombs, that verj few children could ■ be granted exemption and all applications for considera tion shotild be made to the senior inspector of schools in the education distriet in which the child resides.
