Farmers' Claim Fails
After a hearing lasting four days, a linding for the defendant was returned by a special jury in the Supreme Court at Palmerston North yesterday in the case in which Alfred Ernest Claude Jeffrey (Mr. G. I. McGregor), farmer, claimed damages amounting to £2251 from the Manawntu-Oroua River Board (Mr. A. M. Yortt), alleging negligence on the board 's part in replacing a stopbank so that his property near Shannon had been flooded and damaged. The- jury was unanimous in its linding. Mr. Justice Cornish presided.
