Faith and Hopes of Mr. Nash
AUCKLAND, March I. Faith in the present system of finance in New Zealand and belief that it should he continued for many years, were expressed- by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, in an address to the Auckland Creditmen7s Club. Mr. Nash also emphasised the importance of increased production and the danger of higher wages without a corresponding rise in output of • goods and servicek "Provided that revenue is taken in fair proportion - from the people who have it, then taxation is good," the Minister said. "I have never met anyone who would argue that it is not good. I have met many who did not want to pay it but that 'is a totally different thing. , "I have no doubt we should continue in the way we have gone for many, mariy years,77 he added, after mentioning that it would not be necessary to take so much from the good type of person who paid his taxes, ii everyone paid what they owed. "I know everybody who is listening to me would agree.77
