Capacity Yardings Affect Stock Values

The Levin sale held yesterday saw capacity yardings in most seetions, causing a flooding of the market and a slight recession in [Values for fat sheep and cattle. In the, fat sheep section ah overloading of wethers caused a dr'op of approximately 2s per head, with some ,pens being passed in. A similar situation arose with the fat lambs. Store sheep, consisting mostly of lambs with a few lines of breeding ewes, met with a keener demand than the fat sections. The pig yarding was lighter than in recent weeks and a considerable increase in values for porkers resulted. Baconers were in short supply and also met with a keener demand than at recent saies. In the fat cattle section vealers again sold well, but fat P.A. heifers, cows and bullocks came forward in too great a supply for the buyers' requirements. Dairy heifers and cows close to profit met with ready competition from farmers on the town supply milk contracts.
