Arbitrator Appointed For Container Dispute
WELLINGTON, Feb". 28. The inquiry into the dispute between retailers and growers over charges foi fruit and vegetabJe containers, is to be eonducted aJone by the arbitrator, Mr. G. G. G. Watson, barrister of Wellington. A decision to proeeed with " the inquiry without assessors, was 'made at a meeting today of representatives of thiRetail Fruiterers' and Greengrocers Association and of the Dominion Council of Market Gardeners Ltd., and thc Fruitgrowers' Federation. This meeting was presided over by the Director of Marketing, Mr. Leicester Webb. An agreement was reached on the terms of the order of reference for the inquiry but this wTill not be availablc for a dav' or so. It is expected, however, it will embraee all the issues involved in the dispute. Subsequently Mr. Webb and representatives of the parties met Mr. Watson and, in consul , tation with him, it was decided to begin arbitrattion tomorrow week. Tt was also agreed that proeeedings be open to the press.' The hearing of the dispute is expected to take most of next week. The decision to proeeed without assessors and with an arbitrator alone, was made after some discussion.
