DANNEVIRKE, Feb. 25. The attitude of the Government m wantiiig a guarantee that there would be an increase in pig production before an increase in the price of pigmeats was granted was cfdticised at a meeting of the Southe,rn Hawke's Bay Eed erated Farmers. Mr G. Cammock asserted that, 'if there was no increase in the price, there wodld be a decrease in produc tion. If, to get the increase, it must be announced before the winter, as by then a lot of farmers would have got rid of their.sows. Mr K. J. Holyoake, M.P., said he did not know of any other section of the industry that had been asked to guarantee to increase production before the Government would consider grant ing higher prices. They had to protest verv strongly against this particular attitude. . It was decided to protest at being asked for an increase in production before an increase in' price was grant ed, and also draw attention to the fact that production will show a fur ther serious decline if an increase in price was not announced before May.
