Heavy Fines For Breach Of Building Regulations
^ WELLINGTON, Feb. 25, Fines totalling £150 were impos.ed .by Mr. H. Jr Thompson, S.M., in the Magistrates' Court to-day on. Eros : Georgellis, a carpenter, for breaehes oi : the building regulations in thp city of Wellington. The proseoutiqn was brought by the Building Gontrollen Defendant pleaded guilty to charges of, firstly, using cement for'a wall without % perniit; seeondly,. pro.ceeding with the building of a house after he hacl been : ordered to eease erection, and, thifd- : ty, that in building the house he dict, not conforni with the speeifieations oi ' the permit issued in respect to the house. In imposing 'a £50 flne on each charge the Magistrnte ^said defendant "had been in the country fop eleven years and ought to, know something oi the building regulations." He had deiied a warning and although aceount would be'taken of the fact that he was a foreigner the offences. in,ust be re- ' garded as very serious.
