The proseoutiqn was brought by the Building Gontrollen Defendant pleaded guilty to charges of, firstly, using cement for'a wall without % perniit; seeondly,. pro.ceeding with the building of a house after he hacl been : ordered to eease erection, and, thifd- : ty, that in building the house he dict, not conforni with the speeifieations oi ' the permit issued in respect to the house. In imposing 'a £50 flne on each charge the Magistrnte ^said defendant "had been in the country fop eleven years and ought to, know something oi the building regulations." He had deiied a warning and although aceount would be'taken of the fact that he was a foreigner the offences. in,ust be re- ' garded as very serious.
