• The continuanbe of lifeavy rain right up to attd during the night preceding the operiing oi the ahnixal dahlia s'ltOw of the ' Shannon W.D.E.F., althoiigh badly needed, had an adterse effect on the number of entries, only 554" comirig forward. The exhibits were excellently arranged aii.i made a Colouri'nl display. Commfenting on the show, a judge stated that the dispiay was larger than he had rfecetttly seen in two considefably bigger towhs than Shannon. Mr. J. L. M. Tannoclt, head of the [ botany division at Massey College, congratulated the exhibitors and said that amongst the exhibits were some very heautiful bloom of good quality. It gave him pleasure to dee are the Shannon Show open. Half of the prbcfeeds from the show will be credited to the W.D.F.F. parcels for Britain acconnt. Munford (miscellaneous), Mesdames E. H. Barber and L. Burling (decorative), C. Stern (children's decorative), M. Dujany and L. J. Bowler (vegetables), H. Sterri and Miss Grace Smith (home industries), Mesdames E. Chester and A. E. Burling (needlework), W. S. Cameron (knitting), H. Scott (children's needlework), R. J. Miers (baby show), C. Ward, W. H. Roberts, J. S. Allerby and S. Fitzsimons (tea rooms), and K. Mitchell (saies stall). Mesdames R. H. Charter and K. Thomson were jbint secretaries. The champion bloom was a medium semi-cactus dahlia grown by Miss M. S. Wilson, of Opiki. The silver eup for tlie most points obtained in the show was won by Mrs. R. Mitchell and the Hyde Memorial Cup for the most points in the decorative section by Mrs. L. Healejf, Kairanga. The section points prize winners were as follow: — Giant decorative dahlias, Mr. J.
