MR. HARRY BLACKBURN

A residence of 45 years in Leyin and a useful association wi'.h church work ended recently with the death of Mr. Harry Blackburn, of MacArt'hur Street. Born in Hull, England, in 1867-, Mr. Blackburn came to New Zealand at the age of 15. He spent many years in the Taranaki discri'et, marrying Miss Hebe Barraclough there in 1891. Forty-five years ago they moved to Levin, Mr. Blackburn taking over a small farm and large orchard in MacArthur Street, then known as Kawiu Road East. Though Mr. Blackburn's church home was with Methodism, with which he had a long and active association, he was for some years a Sunday school teacher and Bib'e class leader in the Presbyterian Church, Levin. Both Mr. and Mrs. Blackburn always had a warm place in their hearts for young people, and young friends spent many happy afternoons and evenings at their home. Of a quiet and retiring disposition, Mr. Blackburn was known and respected by a wide circle of friends. He leaves a widow and one daughter, Mrs. H. F. Potter, of Wellington, while there are three grandchildren. They will have the sympathy of their friends in their bereavement.
