MIRACULOUS ESCAPES WHEN CAR CRASHES
Five Wellington people had a miraeulous eseape from serious injury at 6.20 on Saturday evening when the car in which they were travelling to Palmerston North overturned into a ditch at the side of the highway at the bottom of the Linton hill on the- main highway. Only one passenger, Miss Muriel MeGrath, of Yincent Street, Lower Hutt, received any injury. She was treated ih. Palmerston North for slight abrasions over the left eye. The car, which was driven by Mr. Wllliam Noel Jeffs, metalworker, of Petone, eontained four passengers bei side himsc-lf. It is believed that a slight coll-ision occurred when it was ftrying to pass another car, Mr. Jeffs' vehicle skidding for a considerable distance along the road before coming to rest in the ditch upside down. Neither the driver of the other car, Mr. A. G. Fairweather, retired |armer, pf Waipukurau, nor his three passengers, was injured. The car driven by Mr. Jeffs was a total wreck. i — •
