NAPIER, Feb. 17. The outstanding p'erformance at the national junior swimming championships tonight, was that of the 15-year-old Miss W. Oriffin (Auckland) in winning the girls' 220 yards' freestyle. Aliss Griffin brolce boi.n* senior and junior national records and is regarded as a strong Empire Games candidate. Winning easiiy in 2ijiins 89 l-5secs, Aliss Griffin lowered the senior record by 4-5sec and beat the junior record 'oi 2min 41 4-5secs established by herself earlier in the day. In a special attempt 011 the boys' 220 yards breaststroke record of 3min 6 2-5 sec held by hintself, T. Eagle (Auckland) was successfulj covering the distance in 3min. 5secs. Eagle was dis•qualilied in his heait.
