They may or may not be acconipanied by eartli tremors and have been commonly heard in the past in other localities in New Zealand, said Mr. II. E. Fyfe, of the Geological Survey office, today. On ihe other hand, under favourable atmospheric conditions, aiiy noise accompauying tiro activity of Ngauruhoe couid be lieard many miles away from the mountain. These noises shoulu cause no approlieiision ou the part oi tliose who may hear them for they are commonly assoeiated with such norma1 outbursts as the present activity oi' Ngauruhoe, said Mr. Fyfe.
