AUCKLAND, Feb. 15. The following resolution was passed by _ the executive of the Auckland Drivers' Union tonight, according to the secretary, Mr. L. G. Matthews:— "This management committee of the Drivers' Union pledges its wholehearted moral support to the Carpenters' Union in their dispute. W-e are of opinion that the demands oi* the Carpenters ' Union for the retention of the travellirig. time clause and ho'urly rate of 4s, is just, having in r.iind that Ihese conditions have been in operation for some c.onsiderable time. We are further of the opinion that in view of the deinands of general drivers for an increa.se in wages raising -their minimum hourly rate to 4s Id the demiynds of the earpenters cannot be deenied excessive. "

The Auckland Ceramic, Builders and (ieneral Labourers' Union passed a resolution expressing the opinion that the earpenters had had an irfjustice inflicted on them* by the Arbitration Court and that the go-slow could not be confined to the ranks of the earpenters indefinitely as other unions in the building industry would soon he niateriall affected. Aqcording-ly the union called on the Federation of Labour to enter into further negotiations with the master builders and Government with a view to effecting a settlement satisfaetory to the Carpenters' Union and its offieials.
