AUCKLAND, Fek. 14. After "a quiet day diufing which the activity of Mt. Ngauruhoe was mdicated only hy a plunie of smoke drHtmg from its summit, the volcano burst t'orth with renewed yigour tonight. Guests at the Chateau Tongariro nearu a Ioud explosion.from Ngauruhoe about 8 o'clock and hurried out of doors to see glowing rocks hurled 400 or 500 feet in the air from the crater and tht red glow of the vent showing distinctiy again. Mr. A. G-. Hill, acting manager of the Uhateau, said Ngauruhoe 's activity was not as great as that of last week. How ever, the mountain was firing shot after shot tonight and although the -dispiay was not as impressive as that seen earlier, it was stili considerable. The .ava flow appeared to have cooled and was not showing red tonight althougn today wl^en the mountain was free from cloud and ciearly visible, steam could oe seen.rising from the lava.
