Personal Mrs. Aldersy, of Ballance' Street, returned home from a holiday visit to Pukekohe and has left for Wellington. The friends of Dr. R. Collier will be pleased to learn that she is progressing favourably following a'n operation on Tuesday morning. Mr. Trevor King, son of Mr. T. H. King, Stout Street, has achieved success in the rifle championship shooting at Trentham. He qualified in the first 50 of the service championship shoot with a score of 215. Ladies At Bowls A rink representing the Shannon Women's Bowling Club, comprising Mesdames Laing, Edmonds, Tricker and Aitchison, have been competing with success at the Palmerston North open rinks tourament. Playing excefient bowls, they were successful in winning two out of three games on the first day. In the second day's play they lost two of their three games and were, therefore, out of the post-section play. In their game against Hokowhitu on the first day, the local ladies excelled themselves with the result that one extra head had to be play'ed to 'decide the winners. Shannon were successful by three up.
