Tauloch Should Break Stake Record
(SPECIAL— FROM
WELLINGTON, February 11. Excellent fields are carded for the concluding day of the Wanganui Jockey Club's meeting tomorrow, a feature of the day being the clash of high class milers, Tauloch, King's Ransom, Voltaic and Da" Virici in the Jackson Stakes. Should Tauloch succeed he will establish a fresh Dominion stake earriing record for a season, at present held by Signal Officer. with £11,780. 'If King's Ransom does not start in the Earle Stakes it Will give Avenger an excjellent chance to reach the winning list in open class. At the weights Wild Note should hold The Pagan in the open sprint. There will be five galloping and two trotting meetings to hold sportsmen's interests tomorrow. There is every likelihood oflongs) — Good Century, Brazen King's Ransom contesting the Duke, Oxford BlueA
Jackson Stakes agains^ Tauloch. If sucn should prove to be the case Wanganui patrons should be in for ano:her thrilling contest, but on this occasion I think Tauloch will have the edge on his Trentham conqueror. Anotner likely to be prominent in the run to the judge. will be Voltaic. ' The favoured 'division for the Earle Stakes will be Avenger, Barrage, Imperial and Beau Bijou in the likely absence of King's Ransom and, along wioh Shiraz; an improver, the winner should be confined to these five. Avenger ran sucn a steriing race in the Wanganui Cup last week to. run second to King s Ransom that he -is likely to be the public choice. Imperial, a fresh horse, is fit while Beau Bijou's good fourth last week will earn friends. Barrage is consistent but dogged with bad luck. Shiraz's win over a mile was'a good effort and if a surprise is in store Shiraz is the type of horse eapable of bringing it off. Meeting The Pagan, last week's winner, on better terms .in, the weights Wild Note should, if he repeats his last week's good effort, add the Campbell Handicap to his list of successes. He looks well for autumn racing. Travel King is notup to the class of the first two named, but is improving all the time. He should win when placed to advantage. Of the others I think Pitoitoi is the best. She is gra'dually returning to her best f orm. , and when she does she will win them in a row. Prospects for Wanganui, Rotorua, Gisborne, Gore and the Canterbury Park Trots are:
