State Houses in Record Time?
.** B "I promise you will have all your i houses in record time." This state- i ment credited to the Minister of, Works, Hon. R. Semple, was included in the report made to the Otaki Borough Council, at a meeting last night by the deputatio'n which waited on the Minister recently. The matter of State housing was taken up with the Minister, and an explanation giVen to him of the treatihent Otaki had received. The Minister expresse'd himself as anxious to help, and there and then issued instructions for portion of a gang of carpenters and tradesmen, who had practically finished the •job they were on, to be sent to Otaki. The number of State houses applied for is 48, with 23 classed as urgent. Three units under construction in Matene Street are going up with "all speed," and councillors expressed theniselves as very satisfied with the outeome of the visit of the deputation to the Minister.
