Migbt Be Outrages, Comments Ulster's Premier
Copyrfzht)
Received Thursday, 11 a.m. BELFAST, Feb. 9. Feeling in the Ulster elections has reached a high pitch. Nationalist crowds at Strabane, in County Tyrone, smashed the windows of shops owned by Unionists. but no one was injured. Demonstrations were made in BeUast against the anti-partition Labour candidates and in some cases stones, eggs and orang'es were thrown. The Prime Minister, Sir Basil Brooke, said he had never seen such enthusiasm as had been aroused by the election. " Referring to the possibility of an invasion of Northern Ireland, Sir Basil said there might be outrages. "I don't expect trouble from our si'de of the border. We have. however, examnles from the past of I.R.A. activities when we had to face murder, arson and kidnap■ping. and it may start a'gain. "One can on'y presume that in the event of an invasion, Britain would defend Northern Ireland. I have offered friendship and cooperation to Eire's Govemment, but all I get is abuse."
