Regent Theatre Seats To Be Modernised
A feature of the alterations to the Regent Theatre will be the recovering and upholstering of the seats in the dress circle and the remodeTing of the backs. Samples of the finished seats were exhibited to the members of the Levin Borough Council by a representative of the theatre company on Monday night. Covered with a serviceable and attractive leather, the seats look aimpst new and the addition of a modsrn new -typc of back, with shoulder pads, has resulted in a considerable improvement. The theatre official said that the seats, as remodelied, would be equal to the best availab'e in the Dominion today and would last a lorig time. The numfcer of seats to be thus remodelied will be 305. 1 The council has also decided tO( purchase 30 snare backs and seats' so that when further repiacemenis are necessary, they will be of the same material as the others. The total cost of the covering of the two parts of each seat will be in the vicinity of 22s, representing a considerable saving on the cost of entirely new seats. It is understood that the, cost will be-shared by the council and the company, the council paying for ,'xair wear and tear. .
