Council Won't Allow Set Gate Fees on Sundays
The LeVin Borough Council on Mond-ay night refuse'd a request from the Levin Boys' 'Mihtary Band to charge an admittance fee. for a conceft by the Wellington Watersiders' Junior Band, to be staged on the Levin Pdrk Domain dii Sunday, March 6, and at night in the Regent Theatre. It was decided to permit the use of the domain, provided the raisirig of rhoney from the function w'as cOrifined to a collection. It was also decided to allow the band to stage a Sunday night eoncert with the same proviso. The Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, said he understood that the charge ha'd been instituted to covfer the cost of the band's visit. There. was a principal involved in the question of allowing a charge for entertainment on a Sunday, he adddd. Other councillors expressed similar views.
