Indonesian Woman Going To Re Deported

CANBERRA, Feb. 7. A Commonwealth spokesman said the Australiau Government is- going ahead with the deportation of the Indonesian, Mrs. O'Keefe, and her eight children,, despite the claim that she is an Australiau citizen under the newly proclaimed Australiau Citizenship Act. Paragraph I of the Act confers Australiau citizenship rights on a woman who, prior to the date of the eommenoe ment of the Act, was married to an Australian citizen. Mrs. O'Keefe falls within that category. The Commonwealth spokesman added: ' ' yhe has not Leen grauted penuis sion by the Minister or any other I ollicer, to remain ui Australia for pcrmanent residence. That permission would have beeu necessary before she qualilied under paragraph I of the new Act."
