INVERCARGILL, Feb. 4. ' An essay written by a 17-year-old, Brian Woods, of Oreti, has earned hiui an air trip to England and a visit t.othat country lasting ■ eight or nine, weeks. Woods was selected to represent the Waitaki Boys' Higli School in an essay competition sponsored by Over: seas Mail of England early in Decem ber. - Yesterday his. parents received cable advise telling them of his suc eess. .The subject of the essay was: "The world we would like'to live in. '' The competition was conducted-in ttn Unites States, Norway, Sweden, Den nxark, France, Hoiland, Belgium aull Italy as weil as counf.ries in the Britisli Empire. Eaclx of These countries is to have two represehtative students, -a boy and a girl. i The visitors will live as guests iu British honx'es, attend British school.and gain the fullest possible knowledge of Britain and her institut.ions. They will\teach as well as leain and wili gather ideas from their colleagues anu lxosts to take back to their own countries.
