Why, it is not for good people that the! Lord Jesus came to die, but for sinners like you. In Rom. 3 it says: There is none righteous, no not one, they are together become unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no not one. And in Matt. y:13 He says: I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. Travelier: Do you mean to say that there is hope for a sinner like me? Why, I am not fit for a place like Heaven. Pxeacher: Indeed, in your present condition you-. are not, but you can be made fit for Heaven. Travelier: Is such' a thing possible? Why, I am ready to do anything I can if I can only fit myself ior such,a place. Preacher: You cannot do anything. In the first place you cannot give anything to God, for you are a bankrupt sinner, but listen, the amazing thing is everything that has to be done (short of your acceptance of Christ) has been done for you.
