Coni'usion exists in Auckland trades union cireles following tlie announcement that the New Zealand Employers' Federation had arranged an application to tlie Arbitration Court to pronounce wage rates for skilled, semi-skilled and uiiskilled lahour. Tlie February meeting of the Auckland Trades Couneil is likely to be stormy with; recriminations between the militant section and those who ha.ve unreservedly upheld the Federation of Labour policy. "This is tlie first time in New Zealand industrial history that the employers have moved for, a revision of wage rates which they know must inevitably be upwards, said oue union secretary today. "They have taken - the lead and left the Federation of Labour playing second fiddle."
