8YDNEY, Feb. 2. A lift containing J.o girls and the driver, crashed froni the fourtli floor to the liiisenient of a Pitt Street building* today. A safety device slowed the lift down as it passed tlie ground flooi , Iiut live girls were taken to hospital with injuries aud shock. As soon as the lift door closed it shot out of sight to the acconipaniment of loud screams. "When it stopped four S'eet above the basement floor level, tliere was a loud crasli and sound of breaking glass." The occupants, in a state of collapse, were lielped out througli the escape hatch in the roof.
